Now that we know working as a freelancer by selling your area of expertise such as writing, website design, Search engine optimization, copywriting, and so on, are some of the good ways you can make money online.
That made me have a deep thought to myself “if I decide to sell my stuff and help others through freelancing, which online platforms would be the best freelance jobs website I can always utilize?”
Legitimate ones that would be considered the freelancer’s must-use platforms!
As I put myself in your shoes, I conducted thorough research to find the best of them for us all.
In the course of that research, I read through so many reviews from those who have actually used them. Some of them, I even had to register and sign up to so I could see for myself how they really operate.
The ones that meet the cut can be seen in the list below. Feel free to use any one of them to land your future freelance jobs.
Best Freelance Jobs Websites; “The Must-Use Platforms To Consider”
Upwork is a platform I consider to be the number 1 best amidst many other online jobs website. Its professionalism I believe is second to none.
It is a platform that can be utilized by both freelancers and those looking to hire them. Its resources are very easy to navigate, comprehend, and utilize without any kind of ambiguity.
Another thing I love about it is how well organized and user-friendly it is.
For example, if you are based in the US, and you wish to take jobs or hire someone from there, you just have to navigate through the “Freelancers Jobs In The US.”
Also, the platform is categorized according to different skills and expertise which makes it easy for employers to find the people with the skills they are seeking for their respective jobs.
Whether your area of expertise is customer service, writing (be it technical or blog writing), Website design, sales and marketing etc. there is an opportunity for almost everyone.
With over 5000 skills available on the platform, I believe you would definitely find your suit.
I would advise you to take your time to navigate through their platform to see which category is most tailored to reflect your expertise.
Before you can use the platform to take jobs or hire someone, you must sign up and become a member. And your registration would have to be verified before commencing any job or hiring anyone.
The registration process is often the most challenging as not everyone would be accepted.
Though sad, it actually makes sense as that would enable them to filter the fake from the real ones–do not take offence at all, it is a required step.
You can also apply to work for Upwork itself and become a part of their team. They have lots of vacancies on their career page which you can check out and apply for. Who knows you might just land that dream job of yours!
I signed up for the membership of this freelancers’ platform in the course of my research for writing this article.
I was so curious as to how it operates and I wanted to be able to make a final decision whether it should be included in the list or not.
Truth be told, prior to my research, I had heard a lot of good things about this and the services it offers. And, I have to say I was literally blown away after seeing and experiencing it myself.
It has a lot of highly professional freelancers on the platform that create lots of awesome contents for customers. It is a highly competitive place to be–anyways every other platform is as well.
It is best you have a PayPal or Payoneer account before joining Fiverr and others as the payment method is through them.
If you do not have one yet, this is the right time to do so by signing up for either or both of them.
Similar to Upwork, Fiverr also has a lot of freelancing opportunities in different categories such as video & animation, writing and translation, digital marketing, business, and the list goes on.
Furthermore, the freelancers on Fiverr have access to very good resources that can be utilized for their various jobs. The pay is a very good one as you get to decide the rate yourself.
Before you can take any job or even paste one, you must sign up and complete your profile by filling in your area of expertise as required.
It is the time you would want to market yourself in a very good way as a professional that knows what he/she does well.
Be mindful of this. You should not claim to be what you are not, it might come back to hunt you. This does not apply to Fiverr alone but to every other platform and job applications as a whole.
Remember friend, integrity goes way longer than you could ever imagine!
Here is another great legitimate website for freelancers. But unlike upfront and Fiverr, this platform is more targeted towards content creators in general.
This means it is more perfect for freelance writers as its name implies, “ProBlogger.”
As I am a registered member of it, I often find myself attracted to its job listing.
But, due to the fact that I want to build myself multiple passive income streams instead of working to build others’ successful businesses, I decided to put my focus on my website.
There are different kinds of offers to work at different locations. Even with that, you will still be able to find a lot of remote jobs that can allow you to work from wherever you wish.
With that been said, I hope you would be able to find what you truly want, and take advantage of the many opportunities that are available in the online world.
The online world is indeed a highly lucrative one if you could follow the right steps and take actions based on the skills you learn.
It is the very true fact!
Freelancer is a platform I am very much familiar with as well as I am also a member of the platform.
It is a bit similar to Upwork in the sense that it can help you manage your job offers and payments.
In other words, you could say it often times serves as the middle man between the freelancer and the employer.
Also, the jobs opportunities available on this platform limitless. In fact, you could say there’s always a newly listed job every ten seconds or so (pun intended), but truth be told that is just how fast and how frequent people utilize the platform.
Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with it. (You can read more about that here).
That being said, there are still a lot of people that have reportedly made success with the freelancing gigs on this website.
It has different membership plans you can opt for based on your needs. The least is the free membership that would allow you to place a maximum of 15 bids per month.
Whereas, the highest plan is the premier membership at the rate of $59.95. Which allows you to place as many as 1500 bids per month, and add up to 400 skills to your profile.
Freelance writing gigs or freelance writing jobs (FWJ) as most often referred to, is a website that can be utilized by freelance writers like yourself to find and apply different kinds of writing jobs.
Unlike other websites where the clients post their jobs directly on the job boards, freelancing writing gigs instead do the opposite.
It completes the research for you by finding any available jobs on other platforms, and it provides the job description and link to that job’s original post on its website.
Some job boards it usually outsources are flex job, blogging pro, craigslist, and indeed, etc.
So whenever you find a job posting on this website, expect to be redirected to a different site for your application.
I decided to include it here because most of the job postings are legitimate with very good earnings. Also, it has a lot of good reviews from those who have had real experience with it.
Some of which were able to even replace their 9 to 5 jobs with the opportunities found on FWJ.
If you want a platform that has gone through the job research phase and combines the best of the available opportunities, you should check out FWJ.
This is a platform that is not only built for freelancers but also for various services like housing and sales. You can also join a community and discussion forum of your choice on the platform.
One thing I don’t really like about this is the fact that it is quite a bit overwhelming.
In the sense that, as a new user (freelancer) of the platform, you might not be able to figure out what needs to be done or how to best utilize it.
This is quite easy after familiarising yourself with it.
To utilize craigslist, you have to first choose which country and region you would like to search for work.
Thereafter, from the ‘jobs’ and ‘gigs’ sections, you can choose which category best describes your skill and navigate through it.
The fact that I have to choose a particular country is one of the main reason I am not a big fan of it. That should not be a problem if you are familiar with that region.
FlexJobs, as its name implies, is a platform that brings different flexible job opportunities for you and me.
Whether you are a freelancer, a blogger like myself, or wish to make a side income as you build out your own site, flexjobs is a good platform to check out.
The sad thing about it–that is what sometimes put people off–is that aside from being a member before you can apply for jobs, you would also be required to pay a subscription fee.
This subscription ranges from a monthly rate of $14.95 to a yearly rate of $49.95–this seems like an awesome offer though.
If you have got some bulks you would like to invest to find your dream gig, then I would say opting into its plan is not a bad option with the legitimate opportunities it offers.
But if you can not afford that, not so bad, there are other awesome platforms that are better alternatives like Fiver and Upwork above.
People per hour (PPH) operates the same way as the other platforms. The tad bit difference between it and the others is that being a UK-based company, freelancers often get paid in GBP, which can be changed at any time.
But not to worry. You can always convert that to the currency of your choice before withdrawing.
For example, let say your Payoneer (or PayPal) account is in Euro and your PPH account is in USD, you can convert the amount in USD you wish to withdraw to Euro before withdrawing it. Simple as that!
The fact that it is UK-based is not a hindrance to those that are not from the United Kingdom. Remember, the world-wide-web is meant for everyone irrespective of geographical location, and that is applicable to this platform and the rest.
Amidst the five process application of PPH is the addition of references. It is another thing that makes it similar to all the other platforms–but here it is a compulsory step in the application.
This step just requires you to add your personal website URL to it. Your website is a perfect example of your previous work.
This is the reason it might not be ideal for fresh freelancers that are just starting out or still new to the job market.
freelancing is an awesome way to leverage your skills while striving and working towards financial independence.
It does not always matter whether or not you are tech savvy or familiar with the online world, what matters most is your WILL to better yourself at what you do or plan to do.
Albeit, the time it takes to find the right and perfect gig for some is enough for you to build yourself a thriving online business by owning and building out your website instead of working for others.
That is exactly what I decided to do, and it is what I am doing now!
You should read my review of the platform I utilize that thought me how to become an online entrepreneur and content creator as a complete newbie without any prior experience.
I would like to read your thoughts about the above-listed platforms, so write down your comments below.
Is there anyone you have an experience with, or would like to use?
